REHEARSAL TRACKS
CONCERT 2025
"LET'S DANCE!"
That's the title of our 2025 concert, which will take place on Sunday 21st September, 7.00pm, in Lytchett Minster Parish Church.
Final rehearsals: 29th August and 19th September

Thank you to you all for your hard work last week, when Richard Hall, our pianist for the concert, came to play for us. This was a really essential rehearsal, so thank you everyone. Richard will also play for our final rehearsal, on 19th September. After that it will be the concert day itself, probably a 4.45pm start, but I'll confirm nearer the time.

Fauré: Pavane - see below for pronunciation track.
THE DASHING WHITE SERGEANT
"Now the fiddler's ready, let us all begin!
So step it out and step it in,
To the merry music of the violin
We'll dance the hours away!"
In these rehearsal tracks the whole work is played through twice, to give you a chance to rehearse the repeat. In the performance we'll sing it three times, getting faster each time (just like the performance below). NOTE: in bars 20 & 21, the lower parts sing "lau" which is pronounced "lor".
PERFORMANCE
And here's the definitive performance:
The Glasgow Orpheus Choir conducted by Sir Hugh Roberton
Fauré: Pavane op.50
The Pavane is a slow, courtly dance dating from the 16th century.

These rehearsal tracks begin at letter A, bar 18 in your copies.
This will help with the pronunciation. Many thanks, Sarah!
THE SINGER'S DANCE by Kim André Arnesen
This is a setting of a poem by Euan Tait, which is inspired by the dance of nature:
" The leaves have fallen away, and dance
to the wind-song in the garden,
. . . we are drawn to the centre of the dance,
and we know we are helplessly singing . . . "
Here's a copy of the music so you can
make a note of the few slight changes and text corrections.
Martín Palmeri: MISA A BUENOS AIRES
This work is also referred to as Misatango, because it is a setting of the words of the Latin mass in a tango style. It is the main work of our programme.

Below you'll find recordings of my preferred performance of all six movements. There are also links which will take you to ready-made rehearsal tracks for each voice part. ENJOY!

LET'S FACE THE MUSIC AND DANCE!
This should send our audience home with a spring in their step! Kirby Shaw's brilliant 'Bossa Nova' arrangement of Irving Berlin's famous song from Follow The Fleet. It was performed by Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, so we've got a lot to live up to!
Here's a midi file of the instrumental version - thank you, David!
